Welcome to my blog, my friends!!

After being abandoned for years, my blog is eventually set up. Thanks to the new templates, it is so much easier to arrange my blog the way I want to a much more acceptable degree. Well, now it may not be exactly the best, but I am sure it will definitely be better and I shall be more willing to spend more time and efforts here.

Tainan Railway Station 台南驛頭

Tainan Railway Station 台南驛頭 is a place that comes in to out of many stages of my life. Before I had my first car, I came here to get on a train to take me afar or arrived on a weary train from afar. Now it is a place I would come once in a while to pick up my kids from afar.

I has not changed a lot, in fact. This trip there was quite pleasant because nobody bothered me even though there were passengers around. I just kept shooting as a tourist; I bet most of the passengers would think I was a tourist from out of town because no local people would spent hours walking about, searching and shooting pictures.

I may go there again in the morning or at night; then I may get to see her in different appearance.

Gorgeous Four Weeds 旖麗四草 (1)

Four Weeds this evening!!! The patterns of the burning clouds were very attractive and to be honest, I was satisfied with this kind of scene. Can't ask for more, right? I am not a greedy man.

Somehow, I have this discomfort every time I shoot at this spot of Four Weeds. Four Weeds without a glamorous sky would be only a dull beach littered with all kinds of debris, broken bottles, bamboos of stray oyster-fishing racks, drifting wood, bricks, and things you cannot even imagine.

Wapan Salt Field

Wapan Salt Field is so close and yet the total number of my visits there does not even hit a dozen.

Two reasons for that:
1. My visits before were mostly unpleasant.
2. I personally think the setting is too static, in lack of dynamics and unpredictability.

I would say it is very much like Gaomei; the only thing you can expect to get a decent shot with is the sky and clouds.

In Between Typhoon Tembin 天秤颱風之間

Well, I felt a great sense of satisfaction today because I found a brand new angle to appreciate this setting even when the tide is high.

Not exactly glamorous if you wanted me to say how I felt about today's shooting conditions. Yet, I did feel content enough to have a nice seafood dinner happily.

Highway along Pacific Coast

The trips to Taidong have been so amazing. You can say that it brought me even more pleasure and memories than Taidong.

I know it is not very possible but I really look forward to another trip for me to be again on the road along the Pacific Ocean.

Tree of Life 生命の樹

A spot in the city park which most people would not pay attention to, yet I find most appealing for its green and lighting!!!

Sand Dune

Four Weeds, aka Shicao, was already packed with people with cameras and tripods this afternoon before I drove in the parking space by the levee and I could tell that because there were a long line of card parking on the road outside the parking space. I found out later that those cars belonged to the students of a photography class who were there to learn shooting landscapes.

Even though I am adjusting myself to the fact that there would always be people around whenever and wherever I go out shooting, I am still not comfortable with it.

Light Chasing (1)

Another shot of the same series taken on the same day.

After I almost decided to leave this spot to move to a different one, I felt it was a better idea to stick around and this was what I got awarded by the Creator - a spectacular sky with unbelievably dramatic clouds.

Yes, I was more than satisfied yesterday. What made me even happier was that there were no other guys like me with cameras and tripods around. What a peaceful and blessed moment it was to be at one alone with the universe.

Light Chasing

My wheels appears in my works sometimes and this is one I took this afternoon. Quite satisfied with the reflections on the window glass and car body.

Light chasing is all landscape photography about, isn't it? I am glad I bought her instead of all the other SLUVs. Over the years, she has taken me to places afar to chase the light I desire and never let me down, rain or shine, day and night.

Hard Rock in Fangshan

This is what Fangshan looked like before - rocks scattering on the sandy beach - and isn't it just gorgeous?

Tainan Train Station

A rare snapshot trip in Tainan Railway Station - fun though!! I really have to make trips like this more often on more different subjects!!

Chigu at Dusk 向晚七股

This is a great perspective of the Blackfaced Spoonbill Reserve yet I have rarely seen any similar images.

Maybe I should visit this area more frequently to try some luck.

Golden Fangshan

Enjoy the irreplaceable Fangshan at its best!!

Another shot of Crystal, taken in a small park in the East District, Tainan City after having lunch. The green leaves on the trees immediately caught my eyes the second I drove by. Without hesitation, I stopped and went out with Crystal to take some shots!! What was funny was that there was no one around in the first few minutes and then out of no where, there were about five old guys swiftly gathering and sitting on the stone bench chatting, which was my second originally panned shooting spot; therefore I had to give up the plan since those guys had occupied the spot.

South Crossing Highway 太平洋

I took many shot on the seashore highway to Taidong and thank God I did that because the time we reached Taidong the weather began to turn awful.

Yet, you would never be disappointed with The Pacific Ocean.

Copper Fangshan

This was taken this evening in Fnagshan. There seemed to be more rocks on the beach than last Sunday and it made moving about extremely difficult.

Fangshan coast has drastically changed so that I can hardly recognize any of those previously familiar rocks. Where on earth did these mammoth rocks come from anyway? They seem to have crawled ashore from the bottom of the sea.

Pink Lady

Cosmos, the most delicate flowers, is always my first option when shooing floral subjects. I especially love the to shoot with strong backlight, which increases the tranparency of the petals.

And of course this also increases the difficulty but this is exactly the other incentive that keeps me shooting cosmos year after year and never getting tired.

Pond in Four Weeds

Four Weeds, aka Shicao, is full of unpredictable surprises.

This shot was taken on an cloudy evening when I thought there were basically nothing to be captured. This spot was on the way to another place where I thought I might have some luck. I was driving out of a curved road and all of sudden there it was - a fish-farming pond with yellow algae along the green grassy bank and clouds reflected in the glossy water surface.

Of course, compared with real grandeur, this may look somewhat mundane, yet I was content then. To me, the real pleasure comes not from capturing grand scenes but from coming across the often neglected spots and recording the hidden beauty in it.

Lotus in Golden Light

Another of this year's lotus series!! I am quite satisfied with this shot for the golden sunlight beaming down from the left side and the bokeh of the woods in the background. Another blessed moment for me!!

White Waves in Golden Fangshan

It sure is getting harder and harder to see Fangshan beach covered with sand now. This was taken before Typhoon Saola so there was still enough sand on the beach; yet, compared with the same period last year, this is really nothing. But I was satisfied then and I feel even more content now because there are just pebbles and rocks of all sizes left after the typhoons.

Fangshan Reborn 枋山重生, 2012 (1)

Another shot of the same series. Strong back-lighting from the glaring sun creates a better sense of energy.

Fangshan Reborn 枋山重生, 2012

Yes, Fangshan is reborn after all the previous storms that hit this territory. The whole landscape has been drastically changed by the waves and rainfalls and wind to an extent that I could barely recognize it. Every rock seems to have been replaced and turned upside down. The sandy beach I used to be familiar with has gone and now rocks of all sizes have take over the beach.

Frankly speaking, I was quite repelled by the new sight of the coast during my prior visits, yet today I realized that this is the true meaning of "nature has its own course." Fangshan, like all the other coasts around the world, revitalize itself or is reinvigorated by Mother Nature; either way, Fangshan is no longer the original Fangshan.

I am happy that I have found a brand new way to communicate with it, to appreciate it and to interpret it.

Glorious Fangshan Sunset

Fangshan Coast on a glorious golden evening with white foaming waves crashing on the lovely rocks on the beach.

As is clearly shown in the image, the rocks were in perfect positions then but now they are in total chaos. I wonder how long it is to take to restore the beach to its original beauty.

And of course, I seriously doubt if I could ever again shoot freely and totally without disruption on the beach again.

Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly With His Song

new Kitty on the block - audi

One of the two new cats adopted by my daughter Crystal. The cats are bother and sister and originally strays. This is the brother Audi, which is more active, just like a typical boy. As for the sister Bella, she is quiet and shy most of the time.

Murky Fangshan, 2012

Another shot of the murky Fangshan series. On that day, I was not alone on the beach because there were some other photographers too. Can't say I was not distracted at all but I guess I really have to get used to this situation soon or else I am not to find suitable places for shooting comfortably.
