Welcome to my blog, my friends!!

After being abandoned for years, my blog is eventually set up. Thanks to the new templates, it is so much easier to arrange my blog the way I want to a much more acceptable degree. Well, now it may not be exactly the best, but I am sure it will definitely be better and I shall be more willing to spend more time and efforts here.

Foxy Fangshan

A sight that would linger in your mind for years !! Being there on the beach witnessing the beauty could really move one to tears.

I have become more and more convinced that photographers do not choose the right scene but the scene chooses him. It is definitely a blessing for a photographer to encounter scenes like this!!

I ❤ Fangshan

I ❤ Fangshan 我愛枋山, 2012 3 by Sunrise@dawn 風傳影像

Well, it was such a fine sunny day and I arrived in Fangshan early as usual.  While I was taking a look at the setting, I sat myself down on one of the plastic chairs set there by the coffee truck owner and I took a shot of myself in rain boots.
The green grass on the edge of the cliff really stands out in the bright sunlight, doesn't it? Of course, let's not forget what makes all shootings possible and perfect, the sun!! Anyway, I sure had fun that day!

Wild Four Weeds

After three consecutive days of waiting and praying, I finally got what I had been praying for.

As usual, I arrived there early to check the tides and the beach, and then I waited for the right time to get down there. I had been noticing the spot on the right side of the beach for two days but the clouds and the lighting were not suitable for shooting form that position the last two days. Yet today my wish seemed to have been granted by God - the tides were just perfect to leave a curved tidal pool and beautiful sand ripples there on the beach. And of course the clouds and the setting sun were way more than I had expected!! AMEN!!

Greaceful Dusk in Four Weeds

Four Weeds, aka Shicao or 四草,is actually a name I made up with an intention to enable friends from different nations to know the exact meaning of the two Chinese characters 四草 when they view my works of this setting. Honestly, I am quite satisfied with this translation!! :-)

OK, let's get to the capture. Well, this evening in Four Weeds I had this privilege to witness one of the most graceful sunsets in my shooting pursuit. What made me even happier was that there were not too many people with cameras around and the sandy beach was untapped, as smooth as silk. All the people and the noise around me seemed to disappear except the universe and me. It has been a long time since my last similar encounter with a scene like this one.

Golden Gaomei

My second trip to Gaomei Wetland ....

The sky was not as awesome this time, compared with my last, I meant first, trip there. Still I managed to make some shots. IMHO, Gaomei is not as challenging as Fangshan because the setting is exactly the same every time. In a shooting situation like Gaomei, one just needs to wait for the right drama in the sky and since the foreground plays basically the cameo role, black card is not that much needed. If needed, the exposure time of the foreground needs to be reduced to obtain details just enough to add some life to the image.

While Fangshan is constantly changing. the rocks on the beach, the tides and waves, the clouds and the position of the setting sun and the clarity tof the sea water vary every time I am there. The most challenging task of all is the one needs to know exactly where one should stand every minute to make sure every shot satisfying, and of course, oneself without getting soaked by those crazy waves.

Lotus, 2012

Lotus, 2012, a photo by Sunrise@dawn 風傳影像 on Flickr.

A lotus captured in the city park on a sunny morning!!!

Well, the trick to shoot a lotus that glows is to shoot with enough day light, preferably 10-11, when the sun gets to shine on the petals from above yet the light is still not too strong.

feathery float, 2012 2

I love to make bokeh shots of vegetations sometimes, especially when the sky is no that glamorous.

alone at dusk, 2012 2

The lone rock that stands elegantly against all crazy waves; I call it the Invincible Rock!!!

A coolest sight with the burning clouds above the horizon!!!

afternoon bokeh, 2012 1

Just llove the warm sunlight and the wooden texture here..

It is a blessing to come across a scene like this now....

fangshan rhapsody, 2012 1

One of the gloomy but dramatic days on Fangshan coast!!!!!

One thing is for sure, if you don't go out there, you are not going to capture anything.

Gov´t Mule - A Whiter Shade Of Pale (Procol Harum Cover)

totally gray daybreak in Erliao.... :-(

cosmos in the light, 2012 1

I can never get tired of shooting cosmos for the diverse combinations of their colors and the elegance they display at various shooting conditions.

Four Weeds Yesterday, 2012 1

This is gorgeous, right? Tell you what, it IS gone now. Some stupid bureaucrats got struck one day by lightning and then decided to remove the sandy headland for good. So it is history now.

Guess what, now they are trying to dump trucks and trucks of sand to make a new headland but just in vain because the sand they dumped in kept washed away by waves.

fiery fangshan, 2012 1

A rare blessed chance to come across a most gorgeous burning world like this..... ^^

I was with my daughter shooting on the shore that day; I am happy for her for the blessing.
